I was a big fan of hers as a teen idol since sixth grade. However, by the time I was about to leave Japan at the age of sixteen, my interest had cooled down, and I sold all of her albums (first ten since her debut) to one of my friends. Since the rise of the free video websites on the internet, I often looked for the 1980s video clips featuring her, but it was more for a nostalgic purpose, and I wasn't really interested in her current songs. Besides, I felt that her voice lost the power it used to have in her prime. She also seemed to have become just another one of those cover singers.

However, when I found the footages of her 2009 concert in Yokohama, where she performed cover songs only, I was impressed by her tremendous expressiveness. I continued to look for more footages of the concerts from 2006 and 2003 and thought to myself that that she might have continued to evolve as a true artist since her teen idol days. She was no longer an object of my wild fantasy in my puberty, and after more than two decades, I "rediscovered" her as someone who has become a true singing diva that I can respect.
